Made in 48hr as part of Global Game 2025, MellenniumNet is testament to what can be achieved in a small space of time by creating an experience instead of chasing complexity. Our original vision was far too mechanically deep to achieve in the time frame and so it had to be descope-creeped. The end product is a sensory feast which begs to ask the question of what a WindowsXP screensaver-type game should look like.The game was later showcased at the Zed Games, Indie Dev Night at Netherworld.

Technical Specs:
Created as part of the Game Boy Advance Game Jam (2024) using the Butano Game Engine the game runs on real Game Boy Advance hardware! OpenMPT was used to sequence music and export it to a Tracker file (.it) which the sound driver (MaxMod) could interpret.

Steep Learing Curve of Tracker SoftwareComposed music in familiar software and ported the track over to OpenMPT while learning its operations thereby separating the Creative and Technical aspects of working with new software. Switched to in situ composition once comfortable.
Composing for unfamiliar genres of music without leaning into Orientalist stereotypesListening to broad range of cultural music and absorbing all available information on the topic. Learn to play traditional songs and deconstructing them to their rudiments.
Communicating effectively with non-English speaking teamNavigating language barriers, developing an empathy and understanding that direct use language is not inherently rude or ill-intended.
